Hold the ‘bowl’ position. Slide the tongue out of the mouth like a file drawer while scraping the molars with the sides of tongue, Repeat 10x Alternative/Modification: Say “Awe”. Enhances: Transversus/Superior Longitudinal/Inferior Longitudinal/Palatoglossus

Tongue Exercise – Tongue Pull-Ups

Use hard straw or pencil or cuticle stick attached to two elastic bands with slip knots, Open mouth wide, Point tongue straight out, Place straw just behind the tip of the tongue. Use very small movements to lift the tongue. Enhances: Myohyoid/Genioglossus/Digastric/Hyoglossus

Tongue Exercise – Making the Bowl

Hold the ‘bowl’ position without the aid of a sensory elastic, Hold for several counts. Repeat Alternative/Modification: May need to scratch the tip of the tongue to get a ‘rim’. Enhances: Transversus/Superior Longitudinal/Inferior Longitudinal/Palatoglossus “Bowl” position.
